Basic Authentication is a simple authentication mechanism where the client sends a username and password with every request, encoded in Base64, using the Authorization HTTP header. Though easy to set up, it is recommended only over HTTPS to prevent credentials from being exposed.

In Spring Security, you can configure Basic Authentication in several ways:
