JPA (Java Persistence API) is a Java specification that defines how Java objects (entities) are mapped to relational database tables. It provides a standard set of interfaces and annotations for performing database operations like CRUD, queries, and relationships. JPA itself is just a set of rules; it doesn’t provide the actual implementation. Developers use it to write database-independent code.

Hibernate, on the other hand, is a popular ORM (Object Relational Mapping) framework that provides the actual implementation of JPA. Hibernate can work with or without JPA. When used with JPA, Hibernate acts as the JPA provider, giving the real functionality behind the standard API.

Key Differences:
